Overview

The Citywide GIS module is based on open-source technologies and allows clients to view spatial data as layers on a map.

Users can search and filter the attribute data stored in the GIS layers. Certain asset attributes generated in the Assets and Maintenance modules can be visualized and filtered for analysis. Assets and Maintenance users can locate assets on a map, initiate a service request or work order by clicking on a location, as well as perform map-based decision making, such as identifying sidewalks where the projected condition is very poor, to then plan a coordinated repair program.

Core functions and capabilities include:

  • View map features
  • Edit functions include modify and delete features
  • Customize layer style and symbology
  • Measure linear distance between points and area of a region
  • Select features within a buffer distance of a point, line or polygon feature
  • Filter features by querying attribute values in GIS layers
  • Search a civic address or features from map layers
  • Export the attribute table of selected features
  • Print the displayed features in the GIS Viewer as a formatted map

Citywide GIS can integrate with web facing servers to pull both vector and raster data into the system. This facilitates the live display of clients' base maps/imagery and feature layers in Citywide GIS.

GIS Licence Types

Citywide offers different types or levels of functionality to suit the needs of clients. The following table describes the GIS license types:

GIS Licence Type

Description

Maintenance - GIS and Permits - GIS

In Citywide Maintenance-GIS (Level-1), Maintenance users can view and create geocoded service requests, work orders, maintenance schedules and patrol routes, while Permits users can view and create Permits from the GIS map, but no asset layers are available.

GIS Viewer

The Citywide GIS Viewer (Level-2) is part of the Citywide Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS) and allows the user to view the GIS data, without writing/editing capabilities.

Full - GIS

Full Citywide GIS (Level-3) provides the ability to view and edit (move, add, modify, and delete) features in asset layers hosted on the GIS server.

Enterprise GIS

Citywide Enterprise GIS or EGIS is a fully managed desktop, web, server, and mobile solution that combines powerful proprietary and open-source software. EGIS works with Citywide EAMS to enable editing, creation, and management of asset data across the Citywide platform. It is a customized solution for each client.
